Role of the Foundation
The Drug Court Foundation is an interdenominational foundation that has a single purpose - to support Harris County Drug Court. Providing financial support as well as by enlisting volunteers to assist clients in learning how to function in the mainstream daily life. To accomplish this, the Foundation will enlist members of churches, mosques, synagogues, outside foundations, and individuals who may support Drug Court through their donations of time, money or both.
Among the Foundation's initial directors are:
- Dr. L. Maximilian Buja, Executive Vice President for academic affairs, University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
- Gabriel M. Gelb, Gelb Consulting Group, Inc.
- Christel Erickson-Collins, LCSW
The Advisory Council includes:
- Felix Fraga, Vice President, Neighborhood Centers and former Houston City Council member.
- deForest Ralph, President, Ralph Associates Inc.
- Kathleen B. Spangler, Attorney, Vinson & Elkins
Ex-officio
- Mary Covington, Program Manager,STAR Harris County Drug Court
Other community leaders are now being recruited.
